Keeping Safe and E-Safety

Keeping Children Safe

Our Commitment to Your Safety

At Moreland Primary School, the safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, secure, and respected, and we are committed to creating a learning environment where everyone can thrive.

What We Mean by Safeguarding

Safeguarding means protecting children from harm and abuse, and it's everyone's responsibility, not just the staff's. This includes:

  • Recognizing and Responding to Concerns:

We are trained to identify potential signs of harm and will take appropriate action if we have any concerns.

  • Creating a Safe Environment:

We will ensure that our school is a safe and positive place for all children to learn and grow.

  • Promoting Open Communication:

We encourage children to talk to us if they are worried or concerned about something, and we will always listen and take them seriously.

  • Working with Parents/Carers:

We will work closely with parents/carers to ensure the safety and well-being of their children.

  • E-Safety:

We will teach children how to stay safe online and will work with parents/carers to ensure that they are also aware of the risks and how to protect their children.

Who Can You Talk To?

  • Your Teacher:

If you are worried or concerned about something, please talk to your teacher.

  • Other Staff:

You can also talk to any other member of staff if you feel more comfortable.

  • The Designated Safeguarding Lead:

Dom is our Designated Safeguarding Lead and you can always talk to him or the safeguarding team (Catherine, Dani, Sophie and Charmaine) if you are worried about anything at school or outside of school.

  • Outside Agencies:

If you feel you need to talk to someone outside of school, you can phone Childline on 0800 11 11. It is free to call.

Remember:

  • You are not in trouble for talking to us. We are here to help and support you.
  • Your safety is our priority. We will always do what is best for you.
  • We are committed to listening to you and taking your concerns seriously.

E - safety

  • Always be careful when you are using the internet. It can help you to keep in touch with your friends and help your education – but it can also cause harm – to you and to others.
  • Remember help is always available at school if you are having any problems online.
  • Don’t be afraid to talk to your teacher or another adult at school.

Tips for staying safe online:

  • Make sure you keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don't know asks to be your online friend, you must ensure an adult knows about it.
  • Know how to use the CEOP Button and how to report it to the CEOP Centre if you are concerned about someone’s online behaviour towards you.
