30.11.21 - Museum of Docklands

This week we visited the Museum of Docklands. We met a Docker and listened to his tales from the past. He described the backbreaking work and the conditions the workers had to endure. We learnt about how containers we invented to help unload the huge cargo ships and how unions were set up to support the dock workers from being exploited.

We then were able to explore the museum. We found some fascinating things from Ambergris, which is formed from a secretion of the intestines of a whale, to hiding in bomb shelters from World War 2!

Enjoy some of our pictures from the day!
