Session 2
This week we thought about last session and agreed that we need to develop our listening skills. We thought about how we might feel at Forest School especially how and why we might feel less positively such as feeling tired, angry, left out and frustrated at ourselves or others.
Then we thought about how we wanted to feel and created a Forest School Charter to help remind us of how to support each other during sessions so we all feel relaxed and respected.
After that we learnt how to use ropes safely and had a go at making overhand knots, half hitches and reef knots. We found out that the reef knot was also known as the Hercules knot in Ancient Greek times.
We spotted some more minibeasts, snails, woodlice and spiders and we even had a fox visit us. We learnt that although foxes can be cute, they are also unpredictable and that we should not approach them or scare them as Emma told us that they can attack people especially if they feel threatened or scared.
Some of us had a go at trying to write our names using the Greek alphabet it was quite challenging as not all letters were represented.
Then we played our Game of the Week ‘Mother Hen’ it was lots of fun there were lots of foxes catching the little chicks.
We are developing our people skills(Emotional Literacy), Fine motor and knot skills and our observation and identification skills.
Next Week we want to learn some more team games(people skills) and do some art (Creative Skills).
