You can see from the ‘What we have been learning’ pages that we have been busy here at Moreland. Year 5 had a wonderful time in Cardfields. The children have enjoyed some lovely trips which enhance learning. Developing a ‘Growth Mind set’ has really taken off as children learn to feel good about themselves and their abilities to be successful learners. This is not just for the children, it is for us adults too as we all expand our intelligence, embrace challenge, persist even if something is difficult, work hard and learn from our mistakes. We have a big job to do in school and at home as together we prepare children for life.
Thank you for coming along to our International afternoon and for all the wonderful food contributions. We had a lovely time. There is a wealth of cultures to celebrate in our school.
Dates for your diary:
Please have a look at what’s on between now and the end of term. Parents evening is the 23rd November. We will be arranging alternate days for those of you who need an interpreter or a longer meeting with teachers. Ultimately, we want to share with you your child’s progress and to show you their books. We encourage you to attend with your child as they work hard in school and have a lot to be proud of and to show you.
It is with great sadness that I tell you that Mo, our wonderful learning mentor is leaving next Friday. She needs to travel to Nigeria to sort family business in the next few weeks and months. Mo has worked in Moreland for over 11 years and is much loved by all of us- children, staff, governors, parents, families and the local community. I invite you to assembly next Friday at 9.15am when we will pay tribute to Mo. I will let you know who will be replacing her as soon as we have recruited someone. The staff and I refuse to say good-bye to her and have demanded she keep in touch with us all. It may be that one day she will work in Moreland again- we can hold onto this hope. In the meantime, please try to come along next Friday morning- you are really welcome. Let’s give her a good send off.
